Throughout the film, there is an undeniable tie between the characters and the “farm to table” concept. All dishes created at GUSTU were conceptualized with the same culinary philosophy pioneered by NOMA Co-founders Claus Meyer and Rene Redzepi, which specified that all dishes at the restaurant are to be created with ingredients that can only be found in the native country.

Much like the characters in the film, the ingredients come from the vast and diverse ecosystems in Bolivia.

In this particular poster, we see the creation of the GUSTU premier dish, “The Palmito”, which originates from the Amazonian Jungle of Bolivia, much like its creator Kenzo Hirose.

This particular moment in the film encapsulates the relationship between Kenzo and his father.

For the DVD case, I wanted to find a way to take the same concept of visually demonstrating Gustu’s philosophy of “Farm-to-table” via panels, but apply it in a fresh manner. Additionally, I wanted to find a way to incorporate more “frames” of the process.

To that end, I settled on utilizing panels horizontally. Each panel doubles in the width of the frame that preceded it, therefore allowing the viewer to witness more of the process as it goes on.

As we reach towards the end of the process, we see that the image begin to almost create a mosaic, formulating a more legible image using two frames.

In order to expand upon the films “farm-to-table” theme, we found an image from the film that still represents that, but allowed me to manipulate the image enough to include the required information.
