UX/UI Design: MuseMe

MuseMe is an application that brings a universal directory that provides the most informative and easy-to-use interface for the everyday museum goer; think “Spotify for Museums”.

I handled and designed the development and conceptualization of Functionality, Interface and Experience.

THE CHALLENGE

Design an application, utilizing the modern breakthroughs of Augmented Reality, for museums that allow people to have a relationship with their cultural institutions.

BACKGROUND // RESEARCH

Based upon personal experiences and observations of patrons in museums, I found that an increasing number of individuals were utilizing their smartphones instead of truly connecting with the art in front of them. This largely stemmed from a desire to photograph the piece of work or research the art or artist.

Given only 72 hours to complete this challenge, I spent the first 24 at the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum, & the Whitney observing and surveying patrons, inquiring their phone use and their dissatisfactions with in-place systems (such as the bulky and outdated audio guide).

THE RESULT

A single phone application that integrates audio guides, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and a full directory in one. MuseMe streamlines, educates, and cuts costs of the museum-going experience for patrons and museums alike.

Art For You

Art For You

The subjectivity of art produces a variety of complications for all of those who view art on a daily basis. Each era and art moment contain specific aesthetic preferences that are nuanced and difficult to discern.

With Art For You, the user can “favorite” specific movements, era, and schools of thought, as well as learn about each one in detail.

Once the user learns about a style of art, Recommended Museums allow them to determine which are the best museums in their area to view it.

AR Mode

AR Mode

Utilizing the newest breakthroughs of Augmented Reality and Location services, AR Mode brings forth the most informative and easy-to-use interface for the everyday museum goer.

By simply entering AR Mode, location services are able to determine the user’s location with the specific museum, and in tandem with AR systems, identify the work of art that has peaked the user’s interest.

Information about the artist then becomes available, along with a handy audio guide to provide all the content that one could want!

Museum History

Museum History

Museum History allows the user to identify which museums they have been to- as well as the date on which they visited- associated to their account.

As a result, the user will be able to favorite and inquire into each museum, seeing available exhibitions.

Art Timeline

Art Timeline

The Art Timeline lays out the history of art through its different schools of though and time periods, while simultaneously allowing the user to learn more about them!

In this function, they will be able to “favorite” particular art periods, similar to Art for You function.
